crow's-nest
n.
1. A small lookout platform near the top of a ship's mast or superstructure.
2. A similar lookout platform located ashore.

This is a collection of songs that I had to produce right away, as though I were on a crow's nest and I had to yell down to the deck an alarm. I wrote these songs in response to the threat the Pacific Northwest faces with proposed pipelines, an old friend's story about Japan after the Tsunami, and of course with a little bit of time dedicated to love, growing food and getting spiritually psychedelic ;P

It's a fun record written on an ukelele by the Ocean. It's about taking control of our lives and the world around us through compassion, joy and a kick-ass attitude based on a stubborn commitment to righteousness and compassion.

So we started with a plot in a neighbour's yard
With a couple of friends and a bottle of wine,
you know it wasn't to hard

To eat your own tomatoes and string beans

And it all began with a story that she told me,
about some punks down in Mexico City
They had no jobs so they got their hands dirty
In abandoned lots making Gardens of Plenty

Let me dispel a few myths about this land that we call home,
That it's all good here that democracy is still strong
'cause there's this man with his devil blue eyes
who will use his power and clout to demonize
Those who stand for Nature and the First People's of this Land
